It has been a while since I wrote about the science fair. There really is no other way to say it, so here it is: I won my grade level!!! Some of the other projects were really neat too. They include: How Does Pop Effect Blood Sugar?, Which Nut has the Most Calories? and Is Multitasking Good or Bad?
I am getting a ruby/diamond ring this weekend! I have known about since before my birtday. (Jan. 28) When my dad picked it out one weekend and brought it home, we found that it was too big. Dad took it back and they resized it. He comes home today. I am so excited!
On the 14th this month there is going to be an adult (Grade 7 and up) cordwood. I really want to enter, but I need 4 people to be on a team. I have gotten my mom and my dad to curl with me and I am going to ask my uncle tonight when he comes over. I really hopes he agrees. If he doesn’t I don’t know who I am going to ask. Anyone reading this, if you want to curl, leave a comment saying so. I will comment back to tell you if I need you or not. Thanks!
All of the people in grade 7 in my class are in a all afternoon class with our school counsellor. We have a sub, so Mr.Fisher left the grade 8s some fun things, which include colouring patterns and writing on blogs.
Over spring break my family has nothing planned that I know of. Although my mom has mentioned that she made an appointment for family pictures……hooray.
We have started curling in gym class, and some people are not very inthused about it. Since I am in grade 8, I am a skip. I caught one person on my team cheating - bumping rocks and such. They did it more that once so I told the gym teacher. She talked to my team member. When we started to play again, the team member was mad at me and purposely threw her rocks “wrong”. I’d rather not cheat and lose than cheat and win.
In my town, there is an annual Cordwood Bonspiel. This is for kids from grades 1 to 6. The older kids are skips. They make big name tags for their teams. The tags say the team name, what position they play and the kids’ name. This year my younger brother is going to be a skip. I won’t say what he is going to call his team because someone just might steal it. Now i have to explain that this is not normal curling. The rocks are cordwood with handles on top. We play in our skating rink. Since the ice is not pebbled, sweeping hardly works at all. Ropes seperate the ices so that rocks won’t go everywhere. There are trophies for the winners and prizes for everyone else. It is so much fun!
